Celebrating Earth Day 2024: Our journey towards IoT products with less environmental impact

Today, April 22, marks the 54^th Earth Day – an annual global event to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

This year’s theme is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, which highlights the damaging effects of the world’s plastic production.

Here, campaigners are calling for a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040 – an achievement that needs the support and action from the global community and of course, the world’s companies who are major consumers and producers of plastic.

Onics packaging with less plastic

To lessen the environmental impact of our production, we have recently made changes to our product packaging which means that part of it has been changed from plastic to paper.

Although not yet applied to our full product range, we are continuously working to optimize our production to reduce the environmental impact of our value chain.

As part of this commitment, Onics is a member of the UN Global Compact and committed to supporting the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact, including multiple environmental principles, such as principle 8 regarding initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

New paperless product manuals for our customers

In addition to reducing our use of plastic, we have just launched Interactive manuals – a new product manual service that lets our customers create fully digital interactive product manuals for their white-labelled product offerings.

Besides letting them offer their customers a better, digital product onboarding, this service also reduces the need for printing physical manuals and the usage of ink for printing.
