Immediate detection and remote warnings

IoT-enabled water leak detection informs the building manager of an MDU instantly when water is detected somewhere in the building. This way, the building manager can initiate damage control immediately.

Water leak sensors are easily placed in areas with a risk of leaks or flooding. When the sensor detects water, an alarm will sound. When connected to a gateway, the sensor also sends a remote notification with a warning.

By connecting the water leak sensors to electrical water valves, it is possible to quickly turn off the water supply in case of a leak to prevent further damage.

Detect leaking pipes

Another way of using IoT technology to prevent water damage is to detect leaking pipes. With sensors that detect vibrations in pipes, it is possible to quickly identify blockages that could end up causing leaks and critical damage to a building.

With vibration sensors mounted on pipes that could potentially be blocked, the building managers will be warned remotely if the sensor detects vibration indicating a blockage. This way, they can quickly initiate the necessary measures to fix the blockage.

The Zigbee-based Vibration Sensor from Onics detects and reports vibrations via an internet-connected gateway. The Vibration Sensor helps building managers keep an eye on hard-to-reach piping and enables them to detect vibrations in the piping to identify issues such as blockages and abnormal water pressure.
