Smart home technology for healthcare
Safe at home
Datek (Smart Home division now part of Onics) is developing a service that can notify relatives if something unusual happens to the elderly person at home. Our solution is based on our IoT platform, which integrates IoT sensors with specially designed software that alerts caregivers if there are deviations from normal activity.
Our goal is for both relatives and elderly individuals living at home to feel safe. Sensors will be installed on doors, windows, and in various rooms of the house.
These sensors will enable relatives to receive alerts if, for example, the elderly person has not been in the kitchen all day, is wandering a lot at night, leaves the front door open, or enters the bathroom but does not come out again.
Reverse alarm system
Our solution is designed to feel secure, not intrusive — both for relatives and for those who have the system installed in their homes. It does not allow relatives to monitor the elderly person's every move. If everything is normal, no notifications will be sent. Alerts are only triggered when deviations occur.
Our solution is developed here in Norway with a strong focus on privacy, GDPR compliance, and security. Users can rest assured that we adhere to all relevant directives, laws, and regulations in this field.
Support from Innovation Norway
The idea for this project was conceived some time ago. In March 2020, when the country went into lockdown, the need for such a solution became even more apparent.
Suddenly, visiting or checking in on elderly and vulnerable individuals was no longer an option. We revived our project and applied for funding from Innovation Norway. We received nearly 2 million NOK, which has helped finance part of the development.
We are now conducting a pilot project to test the alert system and functionality. Our goal is to bring this solution to the private market in early 2022.
